Route2China at the University of Zurich
As a cultural mediator, it is Min Wang’s job to give lectures at schools, universities or companies about China and its many opportunities in the field of work experience. In December, at the University of Zurich, Route2China presented a workshop on why China is such an exceptional place to gain professional work and project experience and to advance one’s career.
The presentation also gave an impression of China’s working environment, identifying industrial trends and explaining the conditions that need to be met if you want to gain work experience in China.
The People’s Republic of China is one of the largest countries in the world in terms of area. It is one of the world’s strongest economies and offers many opportunities on the labour market, especially for university graduates.
People who go to China to gain work experience, leave their comfort zone and develop their personality, as taking the step of immersing yourself in a foreign country, a foreign culture and a foreign environment is not always easy.
One unconsciously trains many skills that will be retained later and are certainly an enrichment for one’s future life and personal development. It is about intercultural competence, tolerance and independence, which are necessary when dealing with the culture of the target country.
There are other rules, customs and traditions to which one must adapt and with which one should organise oneself. In this way you not only train your adaptability and self-confidence, but also learn to communicate in another language. In order to orientate yourself quickly, settle in and prepare optimally for your stay in China, it is advantageous to participate in workshops like this one in order to obtain expert advice that supports and accompanies the adventure “Work Experience in China”.
